Put the price aside and this place is amazinggg. The interior is beautiful and I love that they have an open kitchen. You can see the food being prepared and smell their freshly baked bread. When I came here, my friend and I decided to order only hors d'oeuvres as we couldn't resist all the tasty appetizers they had on the menu. We had the country bread, potato and leek croquettes, onion soup, steak tartare, chicken liver terrine, and the escargots. Guys, this is the best tasting country bread EVER. I wish it could have been complimentary but I understand why it isn't. It's so fresh and soft. I wish I could have taken a loaf home! The potato and leek croquettes were honestly a surprise. The table next to us recommended it and it was the perfect amount of softness on the inside and crunchiness on the outside. The onion soup itself was fantastic. The onions were grilled to perfection and not too salty to taste. The steak tartare was fresh and finely minced. With the little egg droplets on top, it was a delightful mix of texture and tastes. Lastly, I haven't had escargots in forever. I didn't know what I was expecting but it exceeded my expectations completely. The escargots were exquisite. The red wine, garlic, and parsley pairing made every bite tender and flavorful. I realized I wasn't a big fan of chicken liver in general. Not the restaurants fault because my friend loved the dish. I got the dish thinking it would be different from other chicken liver as all the reviews said it was a must have. I would say if you're on the fence about the chicken liver and you never really enjoyed it in the past then there won't be much difference here! All in all though, I would definitely come back and order entrees next time. This place is an absolute gem for French cuisine and the staff were great.

We came here for our anniversary because menu looked good and I always wanted to try this place. Since it is closing at the end of the month, I thought it was a good time to try it. All the food was very good. The potato croquettes were really crispy but I couldn't really taste the leeks. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and was tender and juicy. Both potato sides were good, but French restaurant always do well with French fries. They did forget our salad and brought it at the end but she comped it. The soufflé was really good and the banana ice cream made it a perfect bite. The service was ok because I think they were a little short staffed but overall it was a very nice meal. I'm wondering what they are going to do with all their cute cups and plates with their fox logo.

Came here for a celebration with friends and the service was impeccable. The food was amazing as always and it was the perfect meal to start Memorial Day weekend. I got the flounder and wow it was yummy and light and the cream was so delicious! Ended it with the chocolate mousse! Would highly recommend!

Made reservations for a group of three on a Saturday night at 7:15 pm. We were greeted and seated quickly upon arrival. The restaurant was about 3/4 full with a few open tables and bar seats, you could probably get a spot walking in but reservation would be good just to be safe. Food: Crab Rillette - a nice light start, the rillette was creamy savory with touch of salt, nice crab pieces throughout, served with crunchy pieces of flat bread and garnished with a lemon wedges which added brightness and acidity Grilled bone marrow - came with three pieces of bone marrow and two pieces of grilled bread but they added an extra slice which was a nice touch, served with some bacon jam, very rich and fatty, the bone marrow melted on the grilled bread, bacon jam was sweet adding a bit of contrast to the richness Duck artichoke potpie - hearty warm and filling, the pastry was flaky, buttery and well baked, the filling was creamy, rich and a tad salty with nice pieces of tender duck, the sauce was a savory brown jus which added some moisture, the mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy overall pretty tasty Whole sea bass - was served head on and partially butterflied on a bed of spinach, covered in a green peppercorn butter sauce, with a side of white gigantic beans, perfectly cooked, fish was flaky and succulent, sauce was slightly spicy with a touch of acidity, beans were super soft and creamy with a savory brothy flavor Chocolate souffle - baked to order this came hot and steaming, rich chocolate flavor, top layer was cakey with molten chocolate beneath, the banana ice cream flavor was reminiscent of Korean banana milk, a decadent but delicious end to the meal Service was good, water was consistently refilled, plates and silverware were changed between courses. Courses were well paced. Overall I enjoyed the meal at Monsieur Benjamin, the food was well prepared with quality ingredients, a nice spot for classic French bistro fare with a twist. Price point is on the high end and gratuity is included in the bill but I think fair for the experience.

There are very little French restaurants left in the City, so Monsieur Benjamin stands out. Although not a traditional French restaurant, it's a good expression of a French/Californian cuisine. We started with the Butter Lettuce Salad and ordered the Whole Sea Bass for our entree. I also ordered the French Onion Soup. All dishes were delicious! I may have accidentally added more salt to the soup, thinking it was the pepper grinder, but que cera... The Sea Bass was deboned, which made it easier to serve, and it was cooked perfectly. Service was good... the server seemed like he was a bit distracted. Overall, the food is still solid, served in a wonderfully modern venue.

Great great ambience, decent food and great service. Came here to celebrate our cousins bday party. The team was very accommodating of our 3 year old here. I didn't see any other kid here so that was great. This is a very very upscale place where everyone is well dressed (imagine Suits for date nights) and I was so happy to find a place like this in SF. We ordered the bread, beans, mashed potatoes, escargot, French onion soups, the sea bass, grouper for the table to share and it was all very good. Pretty standard for taste for mashed potatoes, the beans were very good and the fish tasted well done as well. We ended our night with some great chocolate mouse with banana ice cream.

We came without reservation and sat at the marble bar, which I thought was the best seat in the house! We had the perfect view of the open kitchen, along with prompt service. The interior looked sleek and urbane. Most eye-catching was the imprint of a fox everywhere - a fun and charming touch. I was shocked that we had to pay for bread and butter, but I'm a sucker for it, so we ordered the Homemade Country Bread and Butter anyway. Not bad, but not great. The star of the meal was the Chicken Liver Terrine, Apple Compote, and Brioche. The chicken liver alone was incredibly rich and silky. When paired with the sweet apple compote on top of toasted brioche, my eyes rolled to the back of my head. I would come back here just to relive these joyous moments with this dish!
